Who We Are

Tomsic Physical Therapy is dedicated to the advanced training of all our physical therapists, including you. We value on-going clinical education, manual therapy certification, Residency training, Specialist Board Certification, and ultimately Fellowship training. We are able to help you financially, on your road to achieving any of these goals. We currently have two therapist that are Fellows in the AAOMPT (American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy), one Fellow-in- training, and one therapist who has just finished Residency and will be sitting for his Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) certification in 2024. We are a certified clinical training facility for Manual Therapy, Orthopedic Residency, and Manual Therapy Fellowship. We offer consistent mentoring and professional training  to our new grads as well as to a more experienced PT transitioning back into orthopedic care. 

Our clinic also embraces many advanced therapy opportunities including the revolutionary Neurobiological re-education device, the Neubie, Torque Olympic Lifting rack and equipment including landmine, BFR, TRX, Pilates Reformers, Heart Rate Variability testing, and all clinicians are certified in Dry Needling. 

We are motivated to pursue this advanced training in order to provide individualized hands on care to improve people’s lives and return them to their active lifestyles. We stay current with advanced training and specialty certification which enables us to promptly formulate a unique treatment plan for every patient. For those who don’t know, Durango is in SW Colorado and is a beautiful place to live, especially for an outdoor enthusiast. We have access to downhill skiing at Purgatory, miles of trails for hiking, mounting biking, and trail running, miles of roads for road and gravel riding, a river for rafting, a lake for boating or paddle boarding, and great rock climbing. We are close to the high country with access to multiple 14’ers, as well as the Desert Southwest for exploring. We are also near Mesa Verde National Park and amazing ancient Pueblo archeology sites.

What You’ll Do

As a Physical Therapist, you’ll be responsible for patient care in our orthopedic outpatient clinic, with an emphasis on Manual Therapy. (You do not need to have any manual therapy skills, but a strong interest in working in a manual outpatient orthopedic clinic; we will train you!)

You will have formal 1:1 mentoring for 1.5 hours per week and an additional 1 hour per week of Professional Education from the other PTs. You will participate in staff, PT, and WIG meetings, and integrate into the culture of our practice.

The following qualifications are what we require from potential candidates in order to be successful in this role:

  • Licensed in Colorado
  • Interested in continued professional growth under the mentorship of Fellowship Trained Therapists
  • A willingness to be flexible and to pick up shifts when necessary, as well as a willingness to work early or late shifts
  • Self-motivated and a lifelong learner
  • A strong desire to be a part of our progressive clinic
  • A desire to develop a specialty: Pelvic health, vestibular, balance, geriatric, Pilates, etc.
  • Aligns with our vision of increasing self-pay programs
  • Growth-minded and constantly asking, “where/who do I want to be in five years?”
